Oh my this is a bad one! I really don't think my bashing did it justice, because this fic is bottom-of-the-barrel HORRIBLE. Not so much the writing--while there are plenty of awful sentence structures and painful, glaring errors, the writing itself doesn't stick out as much as that which is being written about. I'm very disappointed that, as far as I can remember, this has never shown up on pottersues, because the main character--Melody Tarmaine--is the ultimate Mary Sue.|
Now, most Mary Sues are irritating, usually to the point of being amusing, in their perfection. The painful pasts, stunning good looks, fancy special powers, and man-catching abilities tend to give us all a good laugh when it really comes down to it. But this one...this one is past being funny. While bashing the fic, I had the horrible urge to a) scream very loudly, b) throw things (preferably at the author), and c) find this fic online and leave a very angry review about what it has done to my brain (at least a quarter of it has gone to mush). Unfortunately, it was quite late at night so I couldn't do a or b, and when I went online to follow through with c, the story had been deleted. I searched again today, and I may have found the author (if she still goes by the same pen name), but the story is no longer there. However, this comment in her bio leads me to believe that this is, indeed, the right girl: "I ignore Rowling's discription of [Snape], my mind's eye sees him so much better." Also, on Draco: "But [he's a favorite character] only in fics. I hate him in the canon because he's such a spoilt little brat."
Unfortunately, this fic is long. Even more unfortunately, there are no chapter breaks (that I have found). Since I can't fit the whole thing onto an LJ post (and since Rich Text is being a bitch and I don't want to reformat the whole thing), I've posted the story back where it came from--fanfiction.net--and linked to it in this post. I realize MSTs are not allowed on that site, and that it will probably be deleted after a while, but honestly...who much cares?
Oh, and a quick warning: the introduction to this MST was written way back I don't know when, but most of the actual MSTing was done last night.
So, with that lovely, lovely introduction to the mind of the author (or shall we say, suethor), enjoy!
